"Action now", was the message of the Charters Towers Rural Crisis on 31 August 2015, with a collective of drought affected graziers and residents calling for increased water infrastructure and debt reconstruction.
Just under 300 people attended the event which was organised by State members Shane Knuth and Rob Katter and attended by Federal member Bob Katter, State Minister for Agriculture Bill Byrne and a host of other rural advocates, including Charlie Phillott, Aussie Helpers Co-Founder Brian Egan, Cate Stuart (formerly of Mt Morris Station), QUT Economists Mark McGovern and Ben Rees.
Overwhelmingly the call for was for Government to do more to assist those in need in the bush and to invest in water essential infrastructure like dams.
